I promised myself I wouldn't carry that same pair again for the fourth day in a row and limited myself to just the newer-to-me, smaller 615 as we took the cat to the vet to see about getting a growth removed from his leg. I had been pondering washing the Micarta as I didn't mind the darker brown color that had developed from years of use and carry, but it did have a kinda dirty vibe to it too. I scrubbed the 615 with Dawn and a nail brush and got it a bunch lighter though it's got kind of a mottled appearance now in a muted chevron-like shaped pattern, probably due to the bi-directional, slightly rounded, tapered, and flared milling of the scales. I do like that they're lighter, but was hoping for a more consistent color.
I did the bigger knife too and ended up with both of them on me anyway when I went over to the shop next door to start cleaning up the snow thrower before getting called back to the house for supper.
