Thank you gentlemen! We’re spending first few days helping my daughter and son in law get acquainted with the baby’s routine. My lovely wife is a 28 year veteran L&D RNC, so they’ve been in good hands the entire pregnancy. It’s an amazing feeling to see your babies have children themselves!
Congratulations!!!!! This is great news!

Well among several other higher brow , hard core , USER KNIVES (Cruwear, Magnacut and SPY 27 all crazy sharp , thinned , reprofiled and mirror edged )
you woudn't guess what I was using , especially considering if you know me and my EXPERIENCED aversion to "toothy" .

I was testing my Vivi Edge on my little BASIC Cold Steel Kitchen Classic Paring knife in . . . brace yourself . . . 4116 Stainless .
This has been from the beginning my knife for testing toothy edges . So that is why I put the Vivi Edge on it .

4116 you know that "awful" "weak" steel that has "too many LARGE CARBIDES to be strong enough to use " .
Never ever broke one and regularly use them hard .

Anyway the "Vivi Edge" that he has been tutoring me for is :
Very toothy 200 to 400 grit stone
then
Spyderco Ultra Fine Triangle Rod just a pass or two per side to finish the edge .

Specifically I wanted a dedicated knife for these intimidatiing Crate Straps that I have been keeping my highly pamperd edges away from . Been using a tiny hack saw on them . Pretty herky and thick straps . No metal in them . I fear there is glass fiber in them but not sure .

This quickodicko hand sharpened edge on this super thin blade knife has cut more than twenty straps and is just about like "new" as it came off the stones .

The stones I used free hand at work were :
Ruby 60 grit
Carborundum 100 grit
Carborundum 220 grit
then the Ultra Fine Rod .

I even tried it on some double wall card board and it cut super well and didn't pick up paper fibers like my previous super coarse edges did .

Under magnification the edge looks like do do , seems to have some wire edge but the thing hasn't rolled on me !?!?! .

It works . That's all I can say . These days off coming up I am going to redo the edge on the Edge Pro and see from there how it goes .

PS : I've ALWAYS adored this little Cold Steel Paring knife for EDC . I wish it came in M4 .
PPS : the description is

Durable Cryo-Quenched German 4116 Stainless Steel Fixed Blade Knife with Ergonomic Kray-Ex Handle

But how much can one expect from a less than $8 knife ?
I still love the over all knife though .
