Interesting. I've never seen/ heard of a san-mai style construction with a "open" spin. It's usually folder over the spin and exposed at the edge. any functional rationale for or against? purely looks? It's a cool blade.
 
Thanks for the positive feedback. The steel is 22-layered. I have used it for several blades and my impressions are for good core, but a little bit softer outer layers (for my taste). I like its outlook.
