Edge on Assault Shaker

Hi

I was wondering what edge is ground in to the Assault Shaker's blade. Is it a convex edge like on the other knives? It doesn't appear to be, but I want to make sure before I run a ceramic rod over it.

I don't know what the edge profile is, however you can check it easily with a ruler. Just lay the edge of the ruler along the edge of the knife and see if the knife bevel tracks along the entire length. If it is convex it will dip down as the bevel approaches the very edge.

Regarding "touchups" on a convex edge, they are best performed on a strop, however you can use a steel or rod of some kind. All that this will do is put a slight secondary edge bevel along the edge. This will be removed the next time you hit the edge with a strop.

Most of the Assault Shakers are sharpened with a double convex due to the thinness of the edge. However, some of them, have been given our standard edge.
