Hoping to pick up a sharpenning system soon (maybe tommorow at nycks) so which do you guys prefer? I want to be able to get some scary sharp mirror edges. As far as I know, both can do it but which does it better/faster? Thanks in advance.

Should have posted this ni MTE. There is already a few "vs" threads on these 2 devices.

^^^This.

Here's my quick opinion anyway, though. I've never used a Wicked Edge, but I do have an Edge Pro Apex and it's easily the best knife-related investment I've ever made. I've sharpened everything from 8Cr13MoV to CPM-15V (yes, 15V) on it with no problems whatsoever. So I don't think you'll regret it if you go that route.

I have both and each has its strong points. Wicked edge has no safety features and with the edge pointed up you have to be very careful and develop muscle memory. Edge pro can scratch blades if you don't keep the table taped up. I would have to say the Edge pro will get those mirrored edges easier, but that being said touch up to a working edge is faster with Wicked edge. Either way start out with junky blades first to get a feel for what you are doing.

Matter of preference, really. I have both, and they both work exceptionally well. They've been THOROUGHLY covered in threads around here, it's more or less a Ford/Chevy debate at this point.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think i'm leaning more towards the wicked edge as of now. Just like the way it works better.

I will say that with high ground convex blades I would probably prefer the wicked edge, as it is from what I've seen and experienced, in every other respect I prefer the edge pro.

Not sure of the WE learning curve but the Edge Pro does have one. It does take practice to get the most out of the design. I use my mainly for reprofiles and touch up on my sharpmaker.

I have had both- still have the WE. Nothing wrong with the EP, I just find the WE much easier to use. Also less messy since you don't have to soak the stones.
