It's rare that I'm blown away by any product, but I like to give credit where credit's due when I am. Recently got an Edge Pro Apex (with the extra set of stomes and polishing tape) after positive experiences with some of the other popular ones. Let it sit for awhile and brought it out for the first time a few nights ago.
Improved an already exceptional edge on my LCC Lightfoot and turned my beat up, battle hardened KA-BAR into a KA-BAR shaped razor. The finishing touches obtained with the polishing tape are way beyond my expectations.
I spoke with Ben the day after my first attempt at sharpening a blade for a few pointers. Even obtained greatness while doing a few things wrong. Tackled the KA-BAR that day and I'm glad that I didn't know about sharpening while in the Marine Corps - I may have hurt someone.
The CRKT M16-03 is next.

I'll echo everything that you've said, AnklePocket. I have the same Apex system with the Stone upgrades as well. All of my big knives went through it and are shaving sharp! I've also used it with my Sifu and my Carnivour. The recurve was no problem. This system makes sharpening easy. My kitchen knives are all razor sharp as well. Any money spent on this system is money well spent.

hmmmm . . .

1) wrong forum

2) seems like this is an ad in disguise, since Anklepocket is selling this very device, "lightly used," elsewhere on the forums

I believe that is a Razor's Edge system he's selling.

Open mouth, insert foot:p

I recently bought an Apex with the stone upgrade used from another forumite, and have been very happy with the speed with which it reprofiles edges (the reason I bought it). Just reprofiled a knife this morning that had a few small chips, and a section that was rolled (steeled it before sharpening). Fifteen minutes later, the dings were ground out, and it was popping hair. Would've taken hours on the Sharpmaker-which is still my favorite for touching up edges, but not for rebeveling.

Dearest FishFace5:
I am extremely sensitive due to an early childhood rejection complex. I sold my personal Razor Edge Systems Unit on this very most exceptional of forums to a fellow forumite who likes it almost as much as did I. I bought the Edge Pro for my little self due to it's rave reviews all of which were accurate. The Razor Edge Systems is also great and I highly recommend it as an option. I just didn't feel the need for two systems and felt that the Edge Pro might be a better choice for me.
Wait a minute. It just occurred to me that I'm a professional person in the community with two kids and I'm ranting and defending myself as a pre-teen might.
Also, most importantly, I do sell knives, ect. online and otherwise, but actually not very much to the good people of the forums. This is because there are several exceptional competitors out there most of which operate very honorable and have been around a lot longer than myself. I'm the new guy and breaking into the market of knowlegeable knife consumers is pretty tough. So, of course, I mostly sell to those who don't know any better.
So, in summary, do you think that Ben at Edge Pro might hire me for PR or anything like that? I'm cheap and easy and do exactly as I'm told.
No need to apologize. Cutting off one of your pinkies will suffice.

anklepocket -- well said. Very nicely stated, compared to the vitriol I likely would have provided.

You know, I think that a good many forumites only scan the first post in a thread. Even more fail to read the posts between the original and their own. I vary between hilarity and seeing red when someone asks for help in purchasing a knife, and states a price limit of say $75. You can almost guarantee that at least one, maybe several folks will post that the only possible choice is a Sebenza or LCC DA or whatever. When a person lists 2 or 3 knives that they have narrowed their choices to, at least half the posts will never mention those knives, but instead suggest another knife. (Wait a minute! I think I did that last nite! --That must be okay.)

The most fun have to be the questions that have been thoroughly, and accurately answered, and then several posts later, somebody pops up with either a completely wrong answer, or simply restates the correct response.

Ankle,
Thanks for the "thumbs up" comments on the EdgePro Apex. I like to hear comments on the different sharpening systems from the people who actually use them. And it's also nice to hear about the support from the company that you received regarding this products uses & techniques.

As for "fishface".....:o

Well, let's just say very simply, that you handled yourself with extreme dignity considering what I, and I'm sure many others here at BFC, would have probably done if we were in your shoes.

Good for you!!!

Sounds like a good idea! Maybe he could send it to Spark for a few pictures.

...on second thought, maybe an apology from FishFace would be better... not as fun, but a lot less messy than one of his pinkies...;)

sorry, my bust, my bad, my contrite apologies, etc etc. I had just read the FS post a few minutes earlier, got Razor's edge pro system and edge pro apez system confused. Since this is the GBU forum & not a review forum that set my spydie-sense off, but then I jumped the gun w/o re-checking the FS post. My error, I apologize.

Fishface,
You've done the right thing and admitted your mistake. I wish others could learn to do this too. It certainly makes for a more hospitable environment.

And as for my previous comments?
Well, I too will apologize if I appeared to have jumped on you. I am just getting a little touchy with all the slamming going on around here. I do, however, want you to know that if your statement had been correct then we all would have wanted to know this info. So don't sweat it. It's an understandable mistake that anyone of us could have made.

All is well.:)

no problem - I made the error and deserved to get jumped on. I felt pretty bad about it all day, as I don't want to encourage slamming of other forumites unless absolutely called for. I'll be more careful in the future. :)

I'm with ya. You'll be completely forgiven if you congradulate me for my very first flame. "Can we all just get along?" - Rodney King.
