Gotta make room for new hobbies, so this lightly used Edge Pro Apex and Hinderer Strider armorer's tool are going up for sale.
Full Edge Pro Apex kit with Choseras - $230 shipped (plus 4% PP)
The Edge Pro puts an incredible mirror edge on knives, and I've sharpened maybe 7 with it to a full, flawless polish. This kit was purchased from CKTG and included everything I could get my hands on:
Edge Pro Apex
120? grit wide diamond tape plate (only one that shows some wear, but still works)
EP 220 stone (close to brand new, always used the Chosera 400)
EP 400 stone (close to brand new, always used the Chosera 400)
Chosera 400
Chosera 1000
Chosera 3000
Chosera 5000
Chosera 10K
Leather strop
Drill stop collar
Spring release for Edge Pro holder
Illuminated magnifier
Felt deburring block
Digital angle gauge
Magnets for sharpening table
Water bottle
Unused (except for wrapping stones) microfiber towel
Nylon carrying case
I always used a layer or two of painter's tape to protect the table and blades from the stone mud, and got great results. When comparing the used Choseras to the relatively new EP stones, I can't see much difference in thickness.
Now for the flaws - the 5k and 10k stones (and maybe the 3k) show a little bit of cracking/cross checking across the stone surface. The 10K came unbonded from the aluminum backing but I reglued it with Gorilla Glue with great results. Looks like the corner of the 3k is starting to lift as well, and could probably use the same treatment. The cracking hasn't affected the function of the stones in any way, and a quick brush against a leveling stone like the DMT XC takes away any lip the crack might have. I couldn't feel it when running it against the knife edge, and the edges always came out with a perfect finish.
Strider Armorer's tool by Rick Hinderer - $45 shipped (plus 4% PP)
Excellent condition Strider version of the Hinderer armorer's tool, in 17-4PH. I used this to maintain one or two of my Strider collection that I carried, but have sold them all and don't have a need for this nice piece any more. I've looked it over and can't find any flaws.
