Got a dull knife? I have just the thing for you depending on your budget!
Spyderco Sharpmaker with Ultrafine stones - $60 - https://imgur.com/a/3EcvBpW
Used about 4-5 times before I got my EPA. Works perfectly for refreshing a factory edge. Has the option for toothy edge, mirror polish, or both! Perfect compact setup for quick field work on blades! Stones are in very good condition.
With this kit you can easily get your knives better than factory sharpness as long as there are decent bevels set…
Edge Pro Apex w/ Chosera Stones, #240 Diamond stone - $225 - https://imgur.com/a/c1sgLVm
I got this Edge Pro because a lot of the knives I had didn’t come with good factory bevels. This included many customs so I wanted to get a system to consistently reprofile and sharpen knives. The EPA and WE are the two systems that many professional knife sharpeners use because they produce those glistening mirror polished edges without any guesswork if you have the right stones. And these Chosera stones I have are the absolute best for the EPA and WE systems.
I’ve reprofiled knives like my CRK Umnum, Marfione Anax, and a kitchen knife with ease. (Keep in mind, it’s easy but still takes time!) With this system you can sharpen anything from a tiny SAK to large axes or kitchen knives. It is fully adjustable to the angle and knife edge offset. It comes with an coarse 240 grit Diamond stone for reprofiling, and a set of 5x Choseras from 400, 1000, 3000, 5000, 10000 grits. These run $35-$50 apiece!! I’m selling the whole kit for less than the price of the add on stones alone. Also comes with the EPA 3000 grit polish tapes, stock EPA stones and a blank for you to mount your own stone. I’ve only sharpened around 10 knives with this setup. The stones are still very meaty and it can handle much more. Some stones may not be perfectly parallel but I’m also including the “sand for straightening stones” from EPA. You may also use the diamond stone for lapping. Unfortunately I dropped the 5000 grit stone and cracked it. I reckon you could still use it, but I’ve gotten the same results without it. I’ve used it to polish up some washers and it does an awesome job at that.
