Ok, I'm one of those guys who rarely writes letters about good or bad products and services unless they're extremely good or extremely bad. In fact this is the first time I have ever posted in the GB&U forum.
With that said...after several lengthy discussions with Ben from Edge Pro, I purchased the Edge Pro Professional sharpener. I have been involved with knives, knife sharpening, and knife making for years. At one time or another I have owned and/or used most of the sharpening gadgets and gizmos on the market with mixed results. Some worked better than other in certain applications and some of which I still use and recommend (such as the Spyderco Sharpmaker for quick edge touch up) .but I was never entirely satisfied with the final results of any of them.
The upshot of all this is...in the years of fooling around with sharp, pointy objects, I have NEVER found a device that will create an edge on a tool like the Edge Pro does. The combination of stone textures, angle control, and versatility allows one to put an incredibly scary edge on almost any knife or cutting tool around in a very short time (chisels, scissors, knifes, scalpels, whatever).
The machine is extremely well designed and constructed obviously built for a lifetime of service. In addition, Ben is a great guys and has demonstrated a sincere desire to assist his customers in any way possible.
Granted the Edge Pro Professional is expensive a fact that kept me from buying one for the past 3 or 4 years. However, in those 3 or 4 years I've spent the equivalent on various "toys" in an attempt to obtain the results I got with the Edge Pro thereby proving the adage "you get what you pay for".
In my opinion, if one is looking for ultimate in a heavy duty commercial sharpening system with 100% repeatable results, 100% of the time the Edge Pro cannot be beat.
My hat's off to you Ben you have a customer for life.
PS after this experience, I WILL be adding the Edge Pro APEX to the list of products offered by Arrow-Dynamics
