Hi Everyone,

A few days ago, I started a thread asking for advice on fabricating an edge quenching limiter plate for my dip tank. Many folks gave me some good advice on how I should proceed. These next few posts will show step by step how my buddy and I spent today completing this simple project.

These first photo shows my buddy's pile of aluminum left over from various projects. The next few show the 3/4" thick, by 6" wide, by 10" long slab with the 1/2" holes drilled in the corners.

In this sequence of photos we are drilling out the 1/2" holes....measured to fall on every inch. Note: It helps to have a milling machine with digital readout:)

Here we are drilling out the 3/8" holes....they were spaced in between the 1/2" holes, again on every inch.

In this sequence you can see the finished plate with 1/2" x 13 lag bolts. It is adjustable by simply turning the bolts in or out to a desired depth. Note: the blade in the photos is my annual archery contest blade. I placed it on the limiter plate for a reference. It is just roughed into shape now...hopefully I'll finish her this week.

In these last pictures you will see the plate back at my shop taking its first dip in the tank....I have her adjusted to 1/2" deep. You can see from the last picture that I can still do a full blade quench on the right side of the tank.

Hope this helps anyone who is looking for a nice visual on making a limiter plate. I'll be posting this on my blog later his week.

Thanks,

Bob,
