Folks,

I'm very new to this, and have decided on three projects for upcoming gifts.
The big one is going to be a kukri, but I don't know how to edge-quench it, due to its shape.

I've seen pics. of the man in Nepal using a tea-pot, and I'm gonna tell ya right now, I ain't gonna do that.

Any tips?

Use clay and a full quench for a similar result. The surface of the quenchent will not conforum to the shape of the blade ;) :D

I have read about but never tried this but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Take a mellon and shape it to the curve of the cutting edge of the blade. Heat the blade and shove the cutting edge into the mellon leaving the spine exposed. I assume the more moisture in the mellon the faster the quench.
