Edge rolling

It's my understanding that most bicycle tires have a steel wire inside them along the beads. Sometimes they have Kevlar strands instead of steel on more expensive tires.
You guys were right. I used a pair of tin snips to cut the tires, and there was not one, but two wires inside the rims of the tires.

I think many knives in softer steels would have rolled and blunted like mine did in LC200n.

It is highly probable that my edge was fine until trying to cut the tires.

At least you found an answer. That’s my only pet peeve about the salt knives is that the edge roll easily. But it’s easier to fix than a chip. Others I love the salt design and being able to keep them in my pocket while swimming in lake.

I also enjoy my H1 model, and really like the newer one in LC200n, despite preferring the older handle shape.

It has been with me pretty much everywhere I go since getting it.

Hassle free, light, and a thin full flat blade suits me well.

H1 sharpens a lot easier and polishes incredibly easy, but I think the trade off in edge retention of LC200n is worth it.

Hats off to Sal and the gang for making great tools.

Any tips of burr removal? When I try to weaken it by running it on the stone very lightly it starts to make a burr on the over side.
Deburring is a lot more complicated than I had realized until recently. There is a very interesting book, "Knife Deburring: Science behind the lasting razor edge," by Dr. Vadim Krichuk. You can order it from Amazon or download a PDF file from the KnifeGrinders, Australia, web site. It seems that burrs on different kinds of steels can behave quite differently. Perhaps this is why there are so many deburring methods that seem to work for some people but not others.

I've been meaning to post a short review of the book over on the Maintenance forum but haven't found the spare time yet.
