Edge thickness before finishing and sharpening?

I've only made about 10 knives and I'm still learning, obviously. But I've got a decent grinder and I'm finally getting some decent flat grinds.

But I'm wondering how far to take the grinding before just polishing and sharpening?

And I'm sure it depends on the type of knife you're making, but I'm doing drop point camp type knives from 1084.

Just not sure how thin I want the edge before calling it quits?

15 thou is usually the standard good performer, imo, before heat treat. A lot of people seem to be going sharp before putting the edge on after heat treat as pleasanthill mentioned.

for smaller knives, .008- .015. for a large camp chopper maybe .020-.025. before sharpening.

I sharpen on my grinder until sorta sharp, will slice copy paper. then to finish on oil stones then diamond stones
