Ok, I'm going to try this one more time.

After talking to Duane tonight I am considering hosting an edged weapons training class this fall or winter with the Strider guys (Duane and/or Mick and "company"). At this time nothing is cast in stone but I can give approximate details (subject to change at this point) so I can gauge interest.

So here goes:
Location: East coast…most likely either near Charlotte, North Carolina or near Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Class size: 10-20 people (the closer to 20 people the better)

Course content: Depends on interest. Currently my intent is to offer a basic level defensive course geared toward civilian and law enforcement. The idea is to offer instruction that is as usable, practical, and realistic as possible.

When: Sometime this fall, winter, or early spring depending on Striders availability and your preferences.

Cost: Depends on a lot of things including total number of people attending, desired amenities, location, etc. However, a rough estimate based on 20 people attending is around $300-$400 per person for a weekend long class.

Ok guys…sound off and let me know what you think. If it looks like we can generate enough interest, I'll try to set something up.

Take care,
Cecil

I'd be very interested as well-I've been looking for some "instruction" for a while now-plus it would be a good excuse to meet alot of friends from here.

Cecil,
Who exactly would be teaching this course and is the structure one closer to seminar...progressive in nature, i.e. Inosanto, Rick Fay, Burton Richardson?? type or is it more like the Dog Brothers - total immersion till it hurts??!
Training blades??, stick and knife defense?
Just a few questions...and yes I'm interested.
Let me know...

Our goal in offering instruction will be to satisfy the needs of the host. For example, if the host wishes to offer a period of instruction in a specific aspect of edged weapons oriented tactics, we now feel we have a deep enough base of personnel to draw from and that we can offer a high end, one or two day course in that particular discipline.
Therefore, the instructors may differ from course to course and will be posted when we are approached with the specifics from that individual host.
If you are interested in hosting such an event, send inquiries to us at the company website; www.striderguys@striderknives.com

Mr. D,
Thanks for the heads up...and the idea of the travelling show is definately food for thought...does the price include the bar tab???!!
Hope that you are recovering well...looking forward to seeing you soon.

Good Luck on this Cecil. We are hosting the guys at the end of October on the west coast, so hopefully the classes will provide a great training opportunity on both sides of the country.

Thanks guys...based on the initial response I'll go ahead and try to firm up some info with the Duane and Mick (such as location, dates, costs, etc.).

Oh yeah Brian, computer geeks are always welcome, the more the merrier...who else are we going to pick on?

SRT,
In years of hanging around these Forums you are the first to identify the quote. I applaud your good taste in knives and music. Thanks.

Jack thanks for the reply. I am stuck at work on a Saturday ****ing arsonist but listening to Skull**** Me and MY Uncle etc. and checking out the Strider site is helping the time go by. If I am here long enough I will fire up the Mars Hotel cd. If you tell me your shirt size I will send you one of my brothers gym Tee shirts. I think you will like it.
