I just got my edgepro 2 days ago and the wheels are already turning.A mill bastard nicholson file is as thick as the stone and backing plate, why not cut and bevel a file to fit in the slot? I'll have to try it tomorrow.Anybody have any other modifications?

Joe...Are you talking about the edge pro sharpener? If so are you meaning the stones are "dishing"? Happens fairly quick with the coarse stone. The others should last a VERY long time. Another great option is using EZE-LAP diamond stones. They are an exact fit on the plates. Just use 3m 77 spray adhesive. To order these, you can call 1-800-843-4815 Monday through Friday between 8a.m to 4p.m. PST.
When ordering, you have to request the Model 42 without pedestal and what grit you are looking for. Good Luck...Jim

Got my edge pro a couple of weeks ago, gotta say it's great! No mods yet, but jll346 just dropped a whopper of a good tip that I may just have to try. Brent Finnegan made some mods to his, wish I had time to find the post for you. Hopefully he will be by and share some pics. -Matt-

I have tried many different things. I purchased about 10 blank plates from Ben to try different things. McMaster-Carr sells stones cheap that are nice. But, from all the different stones. The water stones do the nicest job. The diamonds do a great/clean job also. Good Luck.....Jim

Thanks for the tip's Jim. The main reason is just to keep wear and tear off of the waterstones for setting the initial bevels,I hate doing that part with the grinder  :o

I saw that a while back and it impresses me more every time I see it. You need to get a hook and mass produce those!

I have been using it just to clean up any irregularities from grinding the plunge on the 2x72. Grinding is faster but I still have not perfected it yet so the filing fixture has allowed me to salvage several blades.

A friend of mine only has one eye and he can still make knife with it without having any depth perception.
