Thanks a lot really. I was kinda debating whether to get unmounted stones as spares. I will probably get them now instead of the mounted ones.

No problem mang. Let me know where you end up finding the "make your own stones". I have a couple blanks and I was thinking of cutting up an old belt to make a strop. Maybe some balsa wood to fit as well. I'd be interesting in testing a few home made ideas.![]()
Hehehehe, nope not DIY stones although congress tools sells 1X6 inch stones. I was thinking about unmounted standard EP stones that Ben Dale sells for 8 bucks apiece instead of the mounted ones for 15.50 bucks. You unmount your old worn stones and mount the new ones on the old blanks. That's why I was so interested in the what glue to use and how to take it off.
I've had bad experiences with Congress and Falcon stones. Congress especially- my notepad which is open right now displays the large variance in width and lengths of their stones: many are too long to even fit on the Edge Pro aluminum stubs unless you file or grind them down. Was not happy in the least with both company's quality control.

I hadn't checked this thread in a while. Spray adhesive is actually quite similar to rubber cement, just in a spray form. Like the spray adhesive, if you put the rubber cement on one side and let it sit for a minute and then press it on what it is to be mounted on for a more removable bond and apply to both surfaces for a more permanent one. I'm sure it would work just fine for you if it is all that is available.
