On our last trip which included an Alaskan cruise, we were able to participate in 3 knife shows. The last of these was Oct. 11 & 12 at the Edgerton, WI Bob Schrap knife show.

Earlier in the year is the Janesville show which is located about 12 mi from Edgerton. Edgerton is a small quaint community and the show is in the community centre. It caters to a wide cross section of the knife world including supplies, custom makers (24), displays, older knives, purveyors etc.

here are folks looking at a wide range of knife making supplies

among many purveyors, 2 notables were Gary Shaw and Paul Basch (both seated)

Both days were quite busy with lots of sales activity.

Custom knives ranged from hunters to damascus camp knives to fancy folders and swords, tomahawks and period pieces.

Michael Kanter won best fixed blade and is seen here cleaning one of his hunters

his award winner is a hunter with mammouth ivory handle

Thanks for the pics, Murray!

If you had waited long enough at Gary Shaw's table, you could have caught me buying a J. W. Smith folder from him!

Nice pictures Michael. I'm not familiar with "Steffen". Very nice looking folder. what can you tell me?

I think I wrote to you about O Photo before but did not hear back. I see you have gone to Webshots. Are they a free hosting site? I'm always looking for more free locations to host images. Any info you have would be helpful.

Hi Murray,

the maker of that knife is Chuck Steffen, of St. Michael, MN. He is better known for his fixed blades, but has started making folders; this is one of the first ten folders he had made. He usually comes to the Badger Show (Janesville, WI) in the spring. Email me if you want any more info.

Yes, Webshots is a free hosting site; Ofoto is now requiring VIEWERS to get a password to view, so I decided it wasn't worth it!

well Michael, I signed up but then read the help file and it seems that one can't link to the images to post onto forums so this is not of great benefit. Fortunately, Yahoo is still working and I have yet to try Fotango but others seem to have success with it.
