Will,

When is your fixed blade design, the Paratus going to be available?

What options will it come with?

And are we going to see it in Talonite?

Any thing else you can tell us?

Thanks,

OK,

So, I answered my own question kinda....

I went over to the EDI website(www.ediknives.com) and found some info, but not all.

A2 Tool Steel? I want one, it will make a great companion to my Moran.

Will, what is your e-mail, I sent you some but no response. You are probably pretty busy though.

Will goes out of town quite a bit so he may not be able to respond as quickly as he would like. Also we moved his email account to our server so he no longer has the problems encountered with hotmail but it also makes it harder to check mail while away.

I liked the idea of the Paratus when I first heard about it. But, then I saw a picture and I got curious as to why there is no guard or finger index groove? I figured I would carry the knife for defensive purposes as well as utility tasks, but maybe not anymore. Unless I saw the wrong picture? Can anyone else comment on this? Why a fixed blade with no guard?

Marco

The Paratus has a double guard of sorts, the handle swells as it nears the blade.

Here is a pic from Chai Cutlery, James K Mattis' site.

The first pic is of the knife

The second pic is of the knife in its sheath, but if you look at the background you will see a blueprint like diagram of the knife.

Look for the belt loop to be replaced with a multi position thingy on the sheath.

Its killer.

Nice clean lines, very economical and unoffensive looking. I truly hope that EDI offers a choice between the IWB beltlooped version and the multi-carry version(if the multi-carry version is bigger/bulkier). Since I first experimented with different carry positions, I have found the IWB mode offers me the fastest draw and is the least obtrusive to everyday movements(more comfortable to my body).

The handle design looks very similar to the the Darrel Ralph Krait. If the handle is shaped correctly, you don't need a guard to keep your hand from slipping. The Krait is an excellent example of the handle shape locking the handle firmly in your hand. This is a great looking knife.

The big problem with Talonite is that it's something like 15 times as expensive as ATS34. Putting a Talonite blade in a folder is expensive enough. Now give it an almost full tang for a fixed blade . . . .
