Edible Plant Quiz

We took a hike in a wet woods this weekend and came across three useful plants. They are very common in the Great Lakes Region. What are they and what are some of their uses?
This one has multiple names, one that is mysterious.

#2 is jack in the pulpit and #3 I cant think of its not on my hotlist, but the cleavers in the background are on my list.

mayapple on the first one is my guess. The fruit is the only edible part, if you can beat the squirrels to them.
I'm guessing (without looking at any reference) that the last one is false Salomon's seal? That's a total guess based on your hint.
