Edible Wild Onion Lesson

Well, its been some time now since my outing and I haven't found any critters hanging on to me.
I believe I shook them off before they had time settle in. They were very small after all, too small to bite.

I plan on mixing some that tea tree oil compound to use next time and see how that works.

I had a very similar experience to yours - I walked down a path off a sidewalk where I work. When I got back on the sidewalk, I noticed some dirt spots on the bottom of my pants.... Looked down and it was moving. Must of been a couple hundred of the beasts....I did my best to get them off but they were so small I kept finding random ones. One did end up biting me so even at that size they can still attach. As others have noted, they don't carry disease at the first stage, but the bite still itched and took forever to heal up.

FYI. The CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation - national public radio) has been promoting awareness of tick borne Lyme over the past weeks as we have been heading into summer. Interviews with the public demonstrate need for a lot more widespread knowledge ... and better local recognition of the symptoms in diagnosis.

Next time I visit my doctor, I'm going to ask about ticks and lyme relative to continuing education of the medical community. I have read that the tests for lyme are not dependable with many false positives and the antibodies they test for are not even present until you are well into the infection stage. Ticks are a big concern to me.

The dangerous time period has been reduced from 36 to 24 hours !
PA organization to spread word about Lyme is in the worst county , Pike just south of me !! The worst state is NH where there is close to epidemic numbers. At tihis point I'm seriously considering changing my Lyme doc. I was told he had some expertese but I now doubt it ! I'm now starting bromelain and monolaurin .These have science , logic and reason for Lyme use and good field use .Do some research !!

I had Lyme about 10 yrs. ago, and all 3 of my kids have had Lyme. Fortunately for each of us we all had the bulls-eye and were diagnosed quickly. Unfortunately for us, we live at "ground zero" (Connecticut), and the majority of the ticks carry the disease. 30 years ago it was quite rare to see a tick in Connecticut, now there are ticks everywhere. Deer hunting one day last fall, I picked at least 100 deer ticks off my clothing in a few hours. It's to the point that you can't enjoy the woods anymore. When I do enter the woods I spray my clothing with Repel Clothing and Gear. Repel has Permethrin and will last on clothing for up to 2 weeks. In the news lately, they have been talking about another disease ticks are carrying that is worse than Lyme and has no known cure. I'm no big conspiracy theorist guy, but look up Plum Island NY. it's a small island in Long Island Sound between NY and Connecticut, and in the vicinity of LYME CONNECTICUT. The island is owned by the US Govt. Department of Agriculture, and is/was used to study animal diseases. When I was a teenager I used to fish near the island, I remember seeing large steel cages. Considering they are/were an animal disease research facility, I think it's possible Lyme disease originated there. Now, if a black helicopter starts circling my house...............
