My little girl was born yesterday, and I had been trying to figure out which knife I would get to commemorate her birth. Then, when we saw her for the first time she was so tiny the nurses called her a peanut, and I've started calling her Peanut, so there you go. I'm getting a Case Peanut. Both made in the USA :D.

Anyway, I don't know anything about these knives. I'd like to have a carbon rather than stainless blade (personal pref). I'm thinking the generic yellow scales, although I'm not real crazy about them. Her baby blanket is yellow, so it'd be a nice thing to acknowledge that too.

Btw, Mommy and Kinsey are both fine. She was only 5 lbs 8 oz and 18 1/2" long so she really is a peanut. She's the smallest by weight and length of our kids, kind of like the peanut is the smallest of Case's line?

Thanks in advance from the worlds proudest daddy!

Congratulations.
I think the baby butterbean is a bit smaller, looking like a canoe in miniature, but the peanut is so slim and good looking...:D

Also, I've found a CVfor as low as $30 on the evil auction site, but I'd pay a bit more to support a BF supporter dealer and also to get a hand picked knife, as this is going to be my special carry knife.

Congratulations.

Well, I'm not calling her butterbean! Lol. She is slim and good looking, so Peanut is here to stay. :D. Thanks for the congrats. I'm holding her right now and she's all snuggled down sleeping. Sooooo freaking cute. ..................Alright, enough about cute babies, let's talk about something manly! Lol.

Congratulations on the baby girl!

It sounds like the pattern and handle material have a lot of meaning for you. I had one a while back though I lost it. Case does a great job with the yellow delrin and it has a good feel in the hand. A lot of people around here (including myself) are fond of yeller handles. You might see if you can find one that was just recently manufactured and dated with a 2012 tang stamp.

Mr. Jackknife will be along shortly for a tutorial on the peanut. In the meantime, congratulations!
Just a comment. The yellow slabbed CV peanuts can really grow on you.:D But the damascus ones are real nice.

I actually messaged the eBay seller and he said they couldn't guarantee the date code, but that he had just gotten the shipment in last week and the first box he looked at said Jan 12, 2012. Would that box date def have a 2012 tang stamp. Thats part of the reason I'd like to go through a reputable dealer. I want a 2012, I'd love a Feb 3, 2012 ( have to wait a bit for that though) and want a nice yellow derlin knife.

Thanks telc! The longer I look at both the Peanut and the peanut, the more I love them both. One more than the other, of course. :D

I think that the tang stamp was usually consistent with the date on the box but I wouldn't be surprised if there were exceptions, especially at the beginning of a new year.

That is just so neat in regards to your daughter (congratulations!!!) and the commemorating her birth with a 2012 Case Peanut:thumbup:

Nice story---made my day:)

Congratulations! I say get 2 of yeller CV peanuts, engrave them with your and her name and date, keep them as twins.

I didn't think I'd like the yellow handle material vs. natural material, but I recently found that I do. It doesn't look or feel cheap to me at all.

The peanut is a great choice. And I'm not too fond of the yellow plastic handles either. Fortunately the Case peanuts are offered in other handles with CV steel. The red bone is nice, and the burnt stag looks stunning.

Or, since it's a girl, maybe sacrifice the CV steel for stainless and get the pink delrin?

Congratulations on your daughter!

Before I bought my first Peanut I wondered why anyone would want such a small knife. After buying my first one (BSA tan caliber) I couldn't wait to get another, so now I have 4 including a yellow CV. They're great little knives and boy do they cut! They can also give ya a little nip from time to time to remind you that while small they have a plenty big attitude :D

There are Chestnut bone, CV blade peanuts on Amazon for around $35. Congrats on your daughter!

Thanks for all the congrats guys. I'm one proud papa. The other kids are excited too.

I've had several thoughts as to the knife(knives).
Options:
1. Buy one 2012 now, use it and every time I do think of her.
2. Buy one to use, one to keep and one for her later.
3. Buy one to use one to keep and one for her to use later and one to keep.
4. Buy one to use and one to keep and figure her's out later.

I thought about a pink one, but seeing her wrapped up in the little yellow blanket my grandmother made for her makes me tear up, so yellow it is!

Check out Vendor reference removed. They carry all kinds of Case knives and they've always given me great service.
