Educate me on William Henry knives

I own both a William Henry and a Mnandi. Both are great, and I wouldn't get rid of either.

I own the Gen Tac with ironwood handles. It's a beautiful knife and built tough, as well.

If you can find the all-titanium ones, with ZDP blades, you can get a working knife for a more reasonable price. There's a shop near me that has a few left and I'm sorely tempted to purchase one.

If I remember correctly, a well-know wilderness survival guy uses a WH as his EDC, and puts it through more than most would one of their "tough" knives.

Sure they make some Frou Frou knives that belong in an art gallery, rather than in a pocket, but you can find working knives if you look.

That said, you'd have an easier time finding a Mnandi for the more utilitarian tasks, and for a bit less. Reeve's are very refined, as well, but they just look more usable.

Who??

I've owned a few WH's and have sold them off, all at a loss. I have also owned several customs a few of which I have parted with never doing worse than breaking even.

When I compare the two categories I find the WH's to be overpriced for what you get. Don't get me wrong, they are beautifully crafted knives but production knives none the less. Their plainer models I find more attractive than the gaudy fare that they sell but that is just a matter of differing tastes.

I prefer to support the individual makers with my business when I am dropping that kind of money on a knife. YMMV.

Tom Brown, it is a model they no longer produce, if memory serves. I own one, and it is a very well made folder, but not one that I would call "heavy duty". Would and has, made a superb every day carry and use piece.

Overpriced is dead on. But they would rather have high prices for gems and expensive inlays than blade quality.

Yeah the Tom Brown WH was pretty nice. Still the biggest one they've made I think.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying here. Who is "they" in your comment? Why are "they" trading gems and inlays for blade quality? Are you saying that WH spends too much of their time/resources on the embellishments and not enough on blade quality?

WH automatic knives are high end . They will not offer anymore. I have a few and I love them! I may be willing to part with some, PM if interested.
