I'm trying to tighten the hinge pin screws on my BM, but instead of tightening, the whole pin is rotating. Anybody have any ideas? I'm starting to think filing off those knurlings on the pin was a bad idea...
Take a large flathead screwdriver with some paper towels and insert it into the handle. Spread the tang fork apart so that they apply pressure to the undersides of the screws. Turn with torx driver.
When you reassemble, you don't need loctite as the pins are now floating, and will turn within the handles, instead of applying the torque to the male screw to work it loose.
Thanks for the suggestion Tony. Actually, before I read it, I tried squeezing the handles together REALLY hard in the open position to create pressure, and that worked. Should be A-OK now.
Thanks, but it's an old locksmith's trick with floating screws. Apply pressure to the screws so that the energy used to break the thread is used against the thread, and not used otherwise.
