Eight Dollar Mountain Foundry

Has anyone else ever heard of EDMF? I have one of their smatchet knives that I ordered about 8 or 9 years ago. I really like it except for the weight. I've found it to be a very tough and it holds an edge very well. They are very inexpensive for what you get. Was just curious about what you guys thought.

I hadn't heard of them but I like what I see on their web-sight. I don't like knuckle guard style handle but it looks like you can get your choice of handle on any of their blades. When I googled "Eight Dollar Mountain Foundry" to find the web-sight I also got a couple of results from the bladeforums archives and there were some very favorable comments on there. Looks like a lot of knife for the money. Unfortunately there is a notice on the front page of their sight indicating that they're running almost a year behind on orders due to health problems.

I have one of their Smatchets and had one of their khukuris. But the last time I ordered 2 years ago and they never got back to me about my order so I assume they lost it?

I compare their stuff to Mineral Mountain but IMO Mineral Mountain is not as good. On the EDMF stuff the handles are more reasonably sized and the edges are much thinner and they chop way better out of the box. The MMHW stuff I have had required way more work on my part to turn them into decent choppers.
