Interesting thread. When my boy was in the Persian Gulf earlier this year serving his country with the Navy, AG Russell sent him a box of knives (free) to hand out to the troops on his ship. In the box were at least a half Dozen EK fixed blades as well as a bunch of AG Russell folders. I had never heard of the brand or maker. There were a few like the M6 shown above with the cord wrap handles and a few of the daggers like the one in Jerry Hagman's pic. I seem to remember that some of the M6 looking models did have some sort of rubber handles as well.
Unfortunately, the ship's commanding officer wouldn't allow them to be distributed until they returned to the US, so I got to see them before he handed them out. The looked like pretty stout knives, but I had no idea as to the quality. They had no Blackjack markings on them and a couple were sterile, so I have no idea as to their original manufacture. Our kid was a gunner's mate and is now an armorer for SEAL team 1 (although he's not a SEAL himself) so they ended up with guys who can use a stout knife.
I'll have to let him know that EK knives have a bit of history to them.
