I have mentioned a few times in other threads the attributes of the Emerson A-100 for bushcraft. Today, among doing the turkey(Happy Thanksgiving fellow Canucks), rewiring a light, putting some topsoil down and fixing the cable to the TV I had a brief 5 minutes to myself and decided to snap a pic of the A-100 doing a feather stick.
Being short on time I grabbed a cedar shim I had lying around and used that. The A-100 bites very nicely into the wood, much like my Mora. It has a chisel edge, two bevels on one side(as shown in the pic) and only one bevel on the back side. With some elbow grease you could turn this into a true scandi grind. As it is, the secondary bevel is big enough that it works quite well. Especially if you are a righty.
I snapped a pic of my Strider PT doing a feather stick but it was quite difficult. It wanted to bite deeply and did not curl very well. You can see the last curl was actually not a curl. I hope to try out some more "bushcraft'y" things before the snow flies with the A-100. If you are looking for a good woods carry folder, I can't recommend the A-100 enough:thumbup:
So that was my 5 minutes of fun today....well, that is until I got to sit down and eat the turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, etc.

Take Care
Craig

very nice blade! great pic of the blade and fuzzstick!

I too like the Emersons for the woods, that grind makes wicked thin shavings.

I agree, I like the look of the A-100, but wanted to try out the CQC-10 and it's a nice "bushknife" folder. It has a great spear-pointed blade and the chisel grind does do pretty good on wood. I like the "wave" feature, but the svelte design of the A-100 is very appealing! Not sure why, but I've really warmed up to the Emerson designs and have been carrying one variety or another for duty over the past 10 years.
