Yes they are cheapo knives but for $12 a piece I could not resist the temptation to try two out and my son purchased one. They are certainly not like my Benchmade, Spyderco, and Kershaw stuff but for what I wanted them for I did not want to spend a lot. If any one lives near a Big 5 they are on sale. The regular price of $59 was highway robbery though. They are 440C and the one with the G10 handles is the most comfortable to me.

Good 4 U! if you know their limits and you like em, good job :)
I like that G10 model myself!

I love my Extreme Ops Knife. I just like the way it feels. Its Sharp and locks up tight. I have a few other S&W folders but this one is my favorite.

I have had one S&W. Gave it to my brother. A Black Ops. I sharpened it once on a DMT for him back in Oct. and he hasn't had to sharpen it yet, uses it every day at work.

Sounds like you got a good deal. Congrats.

I might give one of those a try if I could find one that cheap.

What do you guys think about the liner locks on these?

How secure are they? Any failures?

udtjim, I have a few of that model and they are very handy. The top three are good BUT watch the liner locks as they tend to be the cheapest metal in the knife....

I have used mine quite a bit. When it clicks open, the lock seem really solid. Love the design. It a user that I don't mind abusing. I think I have five S&W. I don't remember which model the other ones are but I likes the first one so much that I bought 2 more. I think they were six dollars when I bought them.

I have the aluminum Extreme Ops pictured above (with the blue sharpener). You know, I can open that thing by just a flick of the wrist without touching the flipper? Am wondering if anyone else can do this on theirs. Very nice feature.

The S&W knives I really like are their Hawkbills at Smoky Mountain Knife Works for $9.99. They can be sharpened to razor sharpness and their balance and quality seem to be very much out of line for that cheap price. I use mine to open mail, packages and the curved blade lets me do heavy cutting (especially rope and cords) with no problem.

Best kept secret out there! The handles are aluminum inlaid with G10. Very nice heft. The model is SWCKHB.

I have a first production run S.W.A.T. that I have had for years and have abused it and it has never failed. I just remember that I am not using a fixed blade no matter what folder I am using.

Good snag. Not sure who's making the S&W but seems like they always pop up on sale. I have several expensive knives but still get a kick out of finding solid cheap folders. With that said -- I can't stand the el cheapo bargain bin knock-off knives that you find sometimes at sporting good stores. You know - the ones that come out of the same factory that makes lighters and dollar bin tools.

I could flip mine open when I got it but I tightened the screw a it so it wouldn't. I didn't want it to open in my pocket.

All of mine flipped open so I tighten them up too as in NY that is considered a gravity knife and therefore is illegal........

I just picked up a Steel Warrior blue bone congress for $15. I've been carrying it for the past few days and it's really growing on me. :o

I also have two more cheapies on the way. My red bone Buck Muskrat should be on its way back from Buck customer service and I have a $10 Rough Rider green bone doctor's knife en route. :p

For how much these knives get flamed elsewhere on the forums, its surprising how many people have (or admit to having) S&W and the like. Nothing wrong with a good beater.

Cheap knives are like pain to me, I don't have to punch my self in the face to know I won't like it.

My dad always said to buy the best knife you can afford.

I have to admit that cheap knives do have their place, when ever someone asks to borrow a knife I give 'em a cheapie, this way when they bring it back with a broken tip ''cause they used it to pry ceramic tile off the wall  or they used it for a phillips head for a 1/4X20 machine screw " I don't get upset.:D
