I got this "El Huasito Parralino" from Chile a few day ago.
A slip joint with horn scales and carbon steel blade.

Huasito means little cowboy.
Parralino means from Parral, a region in Chile.
Huasito Parralino is not a brand it´s a pattern like Laguiole.
It's made in Parral province of Chile.

If someone has more info about this chilean folding knife welcome.

That´s a nice looking pattern. The horn handles just look great. Thanks for sharing.

The blade shape is useful-looking. The horn scales add the "country" and traditional flavor to a regional knife as well as the hand stamping. Nice

Interesting looking knife, thanks for the pics :)

It looks to be a good working pattern. It is probably made with only hand tools; I'd be proud to own it for its regional history and its utility. Thanks for posting; I've never seen one of those before. How did you come by it?

I believe the OP means that "Huasito Parralino" is the name of a style of knife, not a company that produces them, much like "laguiole" is the name of style of French knife, not the name of a company that makes them, just like "stockman" is a style of knife, not a brand.

Thanks to you Rarreola for starting this thread and show some of the chilean regional craftmanship.
Best regards

So, what are the defining characteristsics of an "El Huasito Parralino"? It looks like the style is not limited to just one blade shape, for example...

That's a great photo - thanks! I especially like the third one from the left, as well the one you originally posted.
It would be neat to see these being made.

I also found this fun little version while googling:

In fact, there are other shapes and sizes.
The horn scales are the defining characteristic.

Hi there. I know this is a pretty old thread, but I'm Chilean and my granpa passed away recently and left me his Huasito Parralino pocket knife. Here are some pictures:

As far as I can gather, it's a carbon steel blade, cow horn handle, and mostly hand made. It also came with its little leather holster.
I wonder what the "V" and "O" markings refer to though.. for the longest time I thought it said "El Huasito Vparralindo".
