Very basic, yet amazingly attractive! I love primitive functionality!
No frills, but a certain flair that makes a tool to be proud of, but not afraid of.
To be used with gusto!

That pistol grip model with the bolster sticking out at the bottom of the sheath/holster like a barrel if shown in public would get you arrested in many states:D. Lloyd

Interesting knife and great thread---thanks for starting this.

Robin, the YouTube video of the Chilean knifemaker and his sons putting one of these together was fun to watch.

Hey guys!
I'm reviving this thread because I found it browsing for El huasito parralino. I bought this knife yesterday at a celebration local party (Chile) and these guys had a stand, I fell in love with this blade, forged from one piece of steel (old curtains they said to me, maybe the metal bar that hold curtains) I'm hoping to turn tomorrow to pick up a folding knife from this guys just like the one showed on first post.
I still don't know what the "v" and "O" on the name means.

Here we go, the name is not entirely seen because for some reason is worn out or not engraved correctly.

I don't know if this is from the original Huasito parralino but still a nice knife
Does this one qualifies as a "traditional" knife? I still don't get used to terminology here.

the meaning is much wider than that, it applies to "old" patterns and excludes knives with a clip or thumb operated and with a recent design (example : automatic patterns made in the 50s and since are traditionals, etc.).

R rarreola , @Paco, those are nice knives, what size are they?

I missed this thread the first time around, and I think it gives me an answer about a little knife I have wondered about. It's a keychain sized wooden handled knife. I'm now thinking it is a cheap souvenir version of El Huasito Parralino. What do you think?

Hey man!
That is nice to see, since the video posted here and your little knife is from "Parronino" a brand made by Gonzalo Castro (today in heaven), you can see the Initials GC. That is a mini version of the real parronino, hence you only see P N O, on bigger ones it says "parronino". MR I don't know what it means, probably a initial one of his sons made or something like that for the brand since GC was gone. Not related with El huasito.

Size of this one is 12.5 cm folded. Glad you liked it.

Thank you, Paco!
I was just hoping to discover what type of knife I have, and you identify the brand and maker. Very cool! :)

Glad I could help you out buddy, I just found out what I told you only few days ago, was a happy coincidence :) Oh and the MR was entirely my discovery LOL
Did you watch the video? It's in spanish but maybe you or anybody enjoy the knife making aswell seeing Gonzalo Castro while alive

Industrial engineered Boker vs rustic by hand
To notice that the huasito horned is really hard to open and close, you got to be careful to not to trap your fingers while closing it.
