Greetings,

I'm considering retiring my old propane forge for one of those new fangled electric models.
Some of this newer steels require a little more finesse when it comes to getting a good temper.
I only see a couple brands, Paragon and Evenheat... anyone got an opinion?

Are there other brands?

Unless there's something very new from the two brands you mention, those
are ovens.....not forges. They're excellent for heat Treating, but heat too slowly for forging.

At one time, Kayne & son offered an induction unit that would heat very quickly....they're pricey though....

OK... after I put the flames out....

OK... an oven for hardening and tempering....

Flames..?

Either of the brands you mention could serve well for HT.....The 220v is cheaper to feed.
The smaller boxes heat faster...which can yield better HT response.
