SOLD TO A COLLECTOR WITH OUTSTANDING TASTE
By Joe Olson of Geyser, Montana, a true art folder, with Joe's own mosiac damascus with an electric guitar theme (Joe's favorite subject) - rightfully named "Geisha Guitar" or "Electric Geisha".
Joe was introduced to this colorful inlay technique by Ray Cover, Jr - utilizing a combination of Colores colors and Durenamel hardeners. According to Joe, "There's a whole lot of background removal and the prep is hard. In the actual inlay, the epoxy and each color are mixed precisely by weight using a gram scale, then fired in the oven, sanded out, re-cut individually and fixed in ready for the next color." Joe's university background was in art, but knifemaking was always a true calling.
So below, "Electric Geisha" or, alternately, "Geisha Guitar"
Overall length 9 3/16", 5 3/16" closed, 4" blade of Joe's own mosaic damascus, 416 stainless frame, this is one sturdy-ass linerlock with Cloisonne Style Enamel figures.
Appears in January, 2011 Blade Magazine article on Joe and his artform (pages 28 & 29) and in KnifeWorld August 2011 issue.
KL website priced at $2950 when purchased about a year ago, now for sale at a firm $xxxx, through this weekend only. Will be withdrawn and thread closed if not sold by 10/21.
