Electric Heat treat oven TC placement

Hey-I'm working on building a HT oven at the house; found it on the internet.http://www.freewebs.com/knifemaking/HEAT TREATMENT FURNACEbackup2.pdf. I have the construction down, I just cant find out exactly where I want to put my TC in the oven. At the top, middle, bottom? I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

I'd also be interested in an answer. I have a Paragon electric kiln that seems to be working great but I just want to confirm its accuracy with a secondary thermocouple.

I was thinking towards the bottom in the same area as the blades sit since that's the area I'm most interested in.

For what it's worth:

I just had an extended conversation with one of the guys selling kilns, during which I asked him the same question. His reply is that the temp is most accurate where the temp is being measured; so, during calibration, he puts the tip within 1/4" of where his knife edges will be.

Thanks tait-I spose that makes sense, especially if you're gonna differentially heat treat.

Yep, but the TC where you want the oven to be at the temp you want.
