Electric knife sharpeners?

I'm a complete rookie to sharpening, I noticed Knifecenter has a special on electric sharpeners. I want to start learning more about sharpeners, and I want one that I can put a mirror edge on a knife with little to no chance of scuffing the blade beyond the bevel. From what I've gathered thus far, the Wicked Edge appears to be top dog.

So my question is, are electric knife sharpeners legit? Is it more for kitchen knives? I imagine they leave a scored edge at best, no where near mirror, but I could be wrong.

I haVE A WORK SHARP SHARPPENER.lAST NIGHT i USED IT ON MY CUSTOM CAMP KNIFE FROM BRUCE CULBERSON.wITHIN 5 MINUTES IT WAS HAIR POPPING SHARP.IT SHAVED A PART OF MY FOREARM CLEAN WITH NO EFFORT.I HOPE THIS HELPS.

I would say stay away from the pull through electric sharpeners , now the work sharp is a different story I've heard both good and bad, It's gonna give you a convex edge , but if not careful youll round your tip off, I say get you a spyderco sharpmaker watch the dvd and go from there, unless you got the cash to buy a wicked edge or edge pro , if that's the case and you got the cash i'd go for the edge pro or wicked edge. If money is an option get you a sharpmaker with the aftermarket diamond rods and ultra fine rods and youll have a nice little set up, it does have it's limitations , but it keeps my blades where i want them.
