This might be a stupid question but I’m not knowledgeable in the electrical field at all. I’m looking at getting an evenheat and would like to get the 22.5” long 220v model. I’m in a duplex now and the garage is right by the utility room with the dryer in it.

Would I be able to or would there be any issues from running an adapter and extension cord from the garage to the dryer outlet? Just don’t want to end up doing something stupid so figured I’d ask you guys lol thanks for any feedback!

No problem at all running an extension cord to power the oven..... BUT - you do need to confirm the distance from recept to oven and size the extension cord wires accordingly. The 22.5" is how many watts? OR amps if it gives that? Say the distance is 100 ft and the oven requires 15 amps, you'd need at least #12 AWG wire for a 4 volt drop. This is with true #12 wire, the wire in most Chinese cable that is rated #12 AWG is more like #13 AWG which will give around 5 volt drop. Still ok. BUT - for best use #10 AWG for only around 3 volt drop. a drop of 4 or 5 volts is no problem at 220/240 VAC.

Thanks for the info! It says it’s 3600W and 15A. And I shouldn’t need to long of a cord as the outlet is only about 10 feet from the door to the garage. So I should be alright with either the #12 or 10 cord then?

With that short distance #12 will be just fine. In fact, with that short distance (figuring 25 ft?) #14 would work, but the current rating is right at the value of #14 wire. Best thing would be to buy a 25 ft #12 AWG extension cord and use that. You might have to change the ends out to the proper plug 'n recept.

The 25ft will be plenty for my needs since I’ll likely be moving things around to heat treat anyway. I’ll go with that cord then. And I’m thinking I’ll just buy an adapter for the plug in (unless I’m missing something and that won’t work). Thanks a lot for the help Ken!!

Sounds good, but you probably wont find a plug n play adaptor to suit connection your clothes dryer socket.
Nor easily find a ready made extension cord to suit your oven whats probably a NEMA 6-20 connector.

I make 25 foot cords with 10-3 + ground heavy rubber case cable. It stays cool and can allow things to be placed where needed, not where an outlet is.

I was kind of wondering about that... figured that would probably be too easy lol. It does have the NEMA 6-20 connector. So just get some heavy enough cable, proper connectors, put it all together and ought to be good to go?

You're correct with
put it all together and ought to be good to go?
BUT - You'll most likely find it less expensive to buy a 120vac #12 cord, cut ends off and into new ends as opposed to buying just the cable and making an extension cord.

itll work as stated above. I have a generator plug in my garage to backfeed my panel with power outages, so I put a generator plug on my oven cord so I can tap into the 220 from the existing outlet! I have a 36" paragon that's 3600 watts, runs off a 30 amp 220v.

Thank you all for the help and shining some light on the topic. I’ll go ahead and things rolling!

Brilliant !
Sounds like you dont have a transferswitch for that generator connection or you devised a method to bypass it.
Otherwise its not possible to draw power out from a generator inlet.

I just bought and installed one of these myself. Fantastic oven! The only thing I would add is to ensure that your breaker is a 20 amp. My understanding is that you only want to run a load of 80% of rated breaker capacity. Good luck!

Correct, I have it wired on its own circuit breaker like a dryer but am very careful about complacency during time of crisis haha.
