:confused: Hay guys
Needs to know about the sugar creek kilns.
Could build one but don't have time and I think it would be about the same cost.possably more because I would buy a weilding machine to start with.
seems like I have heard bad about their pyrometer but cain't remember.
Anything you guys can throw at me would help

The Sugar Creek kiln is an infinite switch job unless you order it with a digital controller. This makes it difficult to run precise batches, you could add a digital controller very simply and save some extra money.

If you want a 110V version, most people find them slow, a friend has one and it will take about 20-30 min to get to carbon steel temps, it takes over an hour to get to SS temps. If there's a full load in the oven it will add 20-30 minutes to that time. Most steels ramp and soak anyways, so I don't see a big deal here. My opinion is that if you're in too much of a rush that you can't spare 30 minutes then you just don't have enough time to make knives :D

Now, I am electricly dumb so can I order one in 230v with a dig controler all hooked up?
I think the small one would be big enough / what do you think.

Get the digital controler.it comes wired and ready to plug and play!simple as that :thumbup: i have the small 110v one and just replaced the element.its now heating to 1935 with in about 50 minutes.with the original element it took a bit longer!

I think maybe the big kiln, in 230v/with dig controller.
now that should take all the groceries and 1/2 the rent.But I figured after I buy a welding machine,building my own oven with welder cost,I might as well buy the oven.

OH YEAH,Saint, I do have 30 min to spare but I usually spend that 30 min every hr wondering where I screwed up on something else

The 220v with a controller will be good to go, it will also heat up faster if you're so inclined. I think Sugar Creek makes a good product for their price.
