Does anyone know how to etch Ti using the Chris Crawford etcher?

I tried etching my logo into a pocket prybar I made using the same technique and solution I use for etching my blades. It just oxidized the the Ti a little bit and none of the logo came thru.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Nick

Pretty sure you can't. Electro Etch just heat anodizes it and turns it blue. Laser it.

Yeah, I use the Cris Crawford electro etcher for anondizing the titanium jewelry that I make. Turns it brown, then blue, then light blue but no etching.

If it's CP (chemically pure) titanium it can be engraved but it's probably not. Most titanium is 6AL-4V. I haven't had any luck engraving that.

Nah, it doesn't etch. I've tried the etchant for it, but it doesn't etch anything like steel does. You're best anodizer is a bank of 9v batteries in series.
