Beautiful slip joint. One of my favorites so far. I would be interested in knowing more about the pivot pin area. I suspect the large head steps in and bears against the liner? Lin

From what I see, I can understand how you feel, as the
picture shows it all.....

Well done, Todd!

All the best,

Lin,

I put a 3/32'' pin threw the larger washer there, so yes it is stepped in you could say.
On some of my micarta knives I just pin them with the pivot pin only. Some makers are scared to do it that way, I guess they don't trust the strength of micarta??
(canvas micarta that is - not paper)
I test my knives for strength how well they will hold up. And you know as well as I do - THEY ARE NOT PRYBARS........ :)
Hope this answer your question?
Thanks for the replies guys, I do appreciate it.

very nice! What's going on on the backspring? Is there some filework in there or something?

Lin,

Here is a couple photos of a test piece I did.
I just pinned these slabs of micarta together - NO counter sink - NO washers.
And put it in the vice bent it over, it did not come apart. NO blade play. -
This is just one pin holding the slabs together, you should try it and tell me??
Like I said anyone using a folder knife this hard? Well????:rolleyes:

Hey Lorien,

I have put file work inside ALL five hundred an eleven slip joints I have made....:)
It's kinda like my trade mark? - So if ya ever see a TA DAVISON with no file work inside, it's a fake.......:)

Thanks for the reply.

Edit to add......

This is probably the ugliest folder you will see from me, BUT it shouldn't count.
It's not numbered & there is NO file work inside......:)

Todd,
That's what I'm talkin about! :thumbup:Yes sir! You did indeed answer my question and then some. You knew exactly where I was going with it. I really enjoy seeing your test. That just makes the finished knife prettier to me. :)Lin

you got any photos of that signature filework, Todd? I'd love to see it.

that's beautiful Todd:thumbup:

I think it is VERY nice as your knives consistently are. My preference would include bolsters however:D

Peter

Todd that is stunning! I don't know where you get it, but you have some of the most beautiful ivory I've ever seen.
