Elephant Toenail

Thanks Sunburst. I try to keep a little spice on the board around here from time to time. Mark, all I can tell ya is I kinda like it too. Everything is on the knife. 1995 Fight'n Rooster "1 of 10". Ten with this type of scale material and gold leafing on the master.

Some Redbone for ya.

Greg you sure have my admiration of your knife collection. You always amaze me with the fantastic beauty's you continue to pull out of your hat...

Sunburst

Takes more than a hat to hold Greg's collection!!:D
Very nice!! That Greenbone XX is a mysterious beauty Greg! Is it old??

I'm always here, Charlie. ;) I'm just giving the fingers a rest lately. :p

Thanks for the good words. I couldn't resist that sunfish when it was posted in the sale forum some months back. It's a lot nicer in person though you'd better have been working out before hoisting it.

I was hesitant to post since Greg's bevy of beauties is beyond words.

Truly one of the great threads! Thanks Greg!!

Don't ever be unwilling to add to the thread fellas. It's all about learning. I knew someone would recognize the Greenbone and it doesn't surprise me that it was Charlie! It is a XX as well. The thing about Greenbone is that most of them are dark. Brown actually. I have seem some Case Tested Toenails that were a lighter, almost pale, green/brown in color. I have been told by many collectors that it is easier to get a "Tested" Greenbone Toenail than it is a XX. I think that would be splittin' hairs tho.
Greg

Just wanted to add that if it wasn't for Coops threads, I never would have been able to dial in my Point & Shoot camera and use Photoshop effectively for knife photos. Again, it's all about learning and wanting to know.

I knew that was a Green Bone and wondered what year Case it was. I first thought it might be a classic also until I saw the pin showing in bolster. That's the first XX 40-64 I have seen with that shield...

You could be on to something there D.P. With the Toenails, the stamp is partially hidden by the bolster. From my experience, when you can barely make out the tip of the XX's below CASE or can't see anything at all, it is usually a XX. Here's something a little different. A '96 Case Classic Pink Pearl.

Wow, these are some great knives. I see by looking at some measurements that the Case's are around 4 1/2 inches. Kinda large for my regular tastes. Does anyone make some smaller lengths?

That Bradford Bonanza 1980 is rather scarce I believe. As you say it's laminated wood. They made laminated wood scales back to 1940 XX if I'm not mistaken, but the Bradford is more rare...
