Has anyone used a North Face Elephant's Foot sleeping bag. I was thinking about getting one for my wife. It is an interesting concept. It only goes up to your armpits, and is designed to be used in conjunction with a jacket. Its shell is made from waterproof bivy material. It is rated to 40 degrees and only weighs 1 lb 2oz. I thought this might be perfect if you already carry a shell and a wool layer.

Doesn't seem particularly efficient to me. Jackets separate your arms from your body and like a glove compared to mittens will not be as warm.

In cold weather I use a Military ECWS and my wife has a 15 degree rated bag.

I was thinking of this as a summer weight bag. It barely over a pound and made with the waterproof material, all you need is a shell and a tarp and your set.
