Elephant's toenail

I reckon you could make the sandwich out of the whale meat then use the blade as a platter to serve it to the crew upon.I'm intrigued but not captivated by this design.

I have a #36 EO Sunfish. Pretty good snap, no half stops. I have a #45 single blade Roughneck. It has half stops, and while it is not a nail breaker, it has tremendous snap.

I just tonight ordered my Whaler. Been waiting on them since I picked up the others 2 mentioned here.

is it true toenails lack snap on opening and closing?

This one snaps like crazy. Incredibly strong pull. It's good you can grab the blade itself because even with my thick thumbnails I doubt I'd be able to comfortably pull it that way.

Although its an odd design there is something about it I love. The craftsmanship is top notch. The scales are beautiful. The shield is perfectly inlaid. And the overall finish is very nice. But none of these alone account for my affinity to it. I think it's the uniqueness and the feeling that it's like holding something from the past.

I was thinking of which modern knife is most like an updated E.T. and I think my ZT 0300 fits the bill. This knife is like the hard use knife of the past.

Did you get that 45 from ck? If so I almost bought it. Grizzly bone right? The only reason I chose this one is I really liked the big flat bolsters and the smooth transition between the wood and nickle.

Looks like a good condiment spreader too. Or PBJ. I bet you could get half a jar of peanut butter on that thing in one dip.

Also for those rare occasions when you need your putty knife to have a point on it. Or maybe as a mortar trowel.

Peanut Butter for sure. ;)

That would be the one. I couldn't decide between it and the Ebony version. A coin toss decided it for me.

I got a Whaler in Lava acrylic coming from the same place.

I want one now...but will I carry the frappin thing!? Cant fill a drawer with unsused knives...hmmmm...Im undecided!

:) Ok, ok, go ahead an make fun of them. Yup they are funny looking, uh huh they are kinda heavy :D.

Oh yeah, if someone purchased a gaggle of them say going back about 20 or 30 years ago, they would really be smiling ... :D.

 boy howdy!

of all things my wife wants me to get one. the clunkier the better. she's not a non-knife person as she regularly uses the zdp ladybug i bought her. but still...

...now if one of the covers was hollow and could be hinged up to hold say...money or credit cards etc...now we are talking old meets new!

I love my steel toe/sunfish.

It gets carried frequently

.

The next time I get to castrate cattle, I will be trying the elephant toe nail. It has a keen edge. Pinch-able blade, and is not too pointy.
