I call this my Elk fighter even though the blade I ground does not resemble a fighter blade. The reason being if you have ever built a knife that you had to fight everything from milling and carving the guard to whatever this was one of those.I think I won the fight though:D Specs are below.

Knife OAL;9 inches
Blade; ATS34 Hollow ground with file work.Thickness 1/8th inch.Polished to a mirror finish.
Handle;Elk Antler with nickle silver guard faced by Mammoth Ivory and nickle silver spacer.Pommel Mammoth Ivory with nickle silver spacer and brass pin (piano tuner brass button from 1908 piano).Leather with Mammoth Ivory beads I made and at the end of the leather a Elk Ivory.(whistler tooth).I carved the ivory to try and resemble the antler.

Fantastic job Ray!! The accents of that knife are outstanding to me. The materials, textures and lines say "way cool". I wish I had the funds to invest in your artistry!
Keep them coming.

Thanks a bunch Mark! Much appreciated.Asked to add a couple more photos so here you go.Thanks

Dude, I'm sorry, but I've held back long enough.....
You do have a "CERTAIN" quality about your knives, however...I've always felt, when I look at your knives, they are somewhat...'processed'?

In Some Way?

It's as if, and this knife kinda portrays that...it's as if. You went around aquiring materials, for this purpose, like any knifemaker would....yet....

You "Put it all together, to mean something" My deepest apologies, but this site is all about genuine craftsmenship, From beginning BLOCK OF MATERIAL. TO END. For some reason, I just get a feel that you combine "stuff that works" & do something, to make a knife to post here.

Please accept my apologies in advance, but sincerely, I've had it seeing higher echelon postings on this forum, & seeing something like this. SELLING!!!!
When someone does it all from beginning to end, and the blade length extends PAST 3 measily inches, the guy wants 100+ for it, & it sits forever.

This comes up for 275+. & goes w/in the same day. That kinda bothers me.

Does that anyone else?
Please accept my apolgies in advance, but I always get that don't walk like a duck feeling, whenever I look @ your knives.

WOW! I Re-read my posting & have so much sincere apologies. I mean. I don't know the truth here, just a feeling. Any other makers who have any level of skill I don't ever feel that way about. Please accept my apologies, BUT, I stand behind what I said before, lol.

besides that... huh??

hppyevraftr....Everyone anyplace has the right to their own opinion including yourself but in my opinion after posting a comment like you did to me you sound like a lame duck trying to swim on land:p First of all I don"t have to defend myself or my knives to anyone anywhere because my work speaks for itself. The only thing about your comment I agree with is my knives being "processed".Your totally correct! They are processed in my mind then to my hands then to my sander,my belt grinder,my drill press,my milling machine,my buffer etc.The good Lord told me once to "use it before you lose it" so that"s exactly what I"m doing because I love the art of making knives:D

In a sales sub forum one has not to discuss about the price neither make negative comments. That are simple rules of polite behaviour.
You can ask what ever you want and give positive comments. and for me he is an excellent maker: I have a knife of Mr Carpenter and it's extremely well made and the design is top.

I can't believe this knife is still here!!!! As an owner of four Carpenter knives I can tell you that his eye for creativity and workmanship is of the highest order. BUMP IT UP!!!!!

OK...I guess you could call this my controversial knife according to one member:foot: since it has hibernated to page 12 with over 2000 views......and it is still here:eek:Well maybe someone would like this beautiful lonely knife for a xmas present at only xxxxx and I"ll throw in free shipping in the USA!!!
