Hey Guys,
Well, I was finally able to get my new Darren Ellis HT-8 Forge fired up....the ice finally receded from my forge-area floor (driveway). :D
It's a really nice forge for bladesmithing, not like the farrier's forge that I was used to using.
Heats up fast and hot! Comes with a nice regulator, a quick disconnect for the propane hose, and two valves. Nice "ornamental handle" up top for portability.
Another neat thing is the adjustable blade rack that adjusts both up and down, and in and out, to rest the blade on.
My forge has the Venturi burner option; I ran this thing cranking at 20 lbs. to first heat up my work (A2...yeah, I know....don't start.:)) , then turned it down to around 5 lbs. to finish it off.
I am extremely pleased with this forge.

Nice looking forge. 20 pounds and then 5 pounds?! Do venturi burners normally run at high pressure? I like the adjustable blade holder and it looks small enough and light enough to carry easily. I can't wait to see your work that you produce with your new forge .

Are you just posting to rub in the fact that your snow is almost completely gone ;).

Nice setup,Mitch-I'm glad the snow has retreated enough to work-I'm still waiting for the glacier to recede from my coal forge!:D

That really is a nice looking forge! Did you have to let run all night to get rid of the ice? Anyway looks like money well spent!

Dan, I ran it at 20 lbs. for a while to heat up my stubborn A2...gotta keep it hot or it won't move. ;) (Plus, I wanted to see what this baby would do!)
Thanks,
Mitch

Shawn, it shouldn't be long until the glacier recedes from up in your neck of the woods...maybe like....June? :D
Thanks,
Mitch

Ya know, Ray...I never thought of that! Quick way to de-ice my driveway/forge area! :D
Thanks,
Mitch

When I forged A2 with my farrier's forge, the scale would come off like potato chips! Now, with this Ellis forge, it scales up much, much less.
