So I finally got my hands on a 560 brand new two days ago.... I guess my 300 got jealous because in a kvt vs speed safe race the Elmax blade somehow someway got a chip in it. I know it sounds silly but come on you could stop a speed safe blade in action with your pinky from opening... I guess I'm lucky it happend in my home rather then when I was counting on the knife... So I e mailed ZT sales, do you think they will give me a new blade?

They will probably get you to send the whole knife in and sharpen the chip out for you.... or you could just sharpen it out yourself. ;)

How does a knife get chipped without it being used to cut or dropped/smacked into something?
Sharpen your knife man, that is what they are for. The 0560 isn't a limited edition or anything. Go to town.

Really? Do you thing I could do it with a standard Sharpmaker? If so @ 30 degrees?

I sharpened out a badly chipped s30v leek on my sharpmaker. The brown stones would probably take awhile, but the diamond stones (204D) made pretty quick work of it.

It did hit into my 300.... They were side by side... Pretty dumb actually and believe me it EATING me alive.... So 20 degrees on each side aka the 40 degree slots? I never knew you could sharpen a chip out.... It's not that bad but I can feel the drag when I run it on my nail

I thought I saw one of the mods post here that ZT sharpens at ~20 degrees from the factory. I'll post a link if I can find the thread...

I have found information on edge angle to be quite misleading in the past. Some people say 20 degrees meaning 10 on each side for an actual 20 degree edge and some people say 20 degrees meaning 20 on each side for a 40 degree edge. Regardless, the 30 degree setting on the sharpmaker works very well on every steel I have used.

Also, if you don't have the diamond stones, you can wrap some sandpaper around the corners of any of your existing stones. This method worked well for me before I shelled out the cash for the diamond ones.

I have some 400 laying around ... What grit would you recommend for now? And thank you guys for your high speed knowledge

Sweet.... So just wrap the stones sandpaper first then brown then white? Seriously Solid Orange I appreciate your help

No problem! Use the corners with sandpaper until the chip is gone, then standard procedure with brown and white.

Thank you... So do I although I'm sure it will work fine regardless , its just the point that its 2 days old and aesthetically its not very appealing
