This knife needs a new home! In addition to my personal CPM M4 hunter, I wanted one in a stainless steel, and Elmax had always intrigued me. Tracy at USA Knifemaker hooked me up with a bar of Elmax and this is what I ended up with, my "large hunter" model! Elmax is one of the so called "super steels", it uses powdered metallurgy for a very small and well dispersed carbide structure. It's wear resistance comes from 3% vanadium, it is very corrosion resistant, and has a reputation of being very tough for a stainless steel. Peter's did the heat treat, and after cryo and temper, the hardness is at 62HRC. The handle is blaze orange G10, so it's easy to spot. The pins are black micarta, and the handle also features a black liner between the tang and scales. The blade has a very nice thin grind, especially close to the edge. This makes for effortless slicing. Many of my customers have commented on how much they appreciate my thin grinds. It even makes sharpening easier, and is said to actually increase overall edge retention vs a thicker grind. It is sharpened to a very aggressive edge, approximately 15° per side. I don't need 2 hunting knives, and I do need some $$$. So someone is getting a great deal, maybe it's you! (It has never been used. It was made, put in it's kydex sheath, and rode around in my hunting bag for a year. Didn't get the chance to shoot a dear this year, so it's still a virgin!)
