I can't seem to find info on Elmax spring temperature. I,m still at 62 RC at 800 degrees. can anybody help?

Bruce, are You referring to 800 °F ?
Generally stainless is spring tempered around 1000-1100 °F, 1100 °F being the most used due to the blue embrittlement range to be surpassed.
Elmax could be different, but i don't think so.

a big fan of Yours ;)

I can project based sole on 1 accidental spring ht elmax. By under-soaking ~15 minutes @2000F, there would be less C in solution, fine MC and Ms probably be still above 300F, RA < 15%. Projected AQ 56-58rc. Temper around 500F for 50rc spring elasticity. 550F would yield 46-48rc.

My accidental ht: put blade in oven at 1950F, oven reach-temp alarm went off + was distracted by ppl; thought it was the done alarm (5 minutes soak at 2150F), quenched, cryo, tempered 425F. Resulted ~52-53rc.

So can I get about 49-50 rc spring hardness?

I just now got 51 rc at 1100f for one hour so I,m going with that.
I thought there would be more documented results somewhere on the web but I couldnt find it.

Thanks for the input Gents.
