Elmax

If that doesn't work and you still have trouble with the knife holding the edge, you may try to call ZT and ask if they'll exchange the blade.

The 0560 was recently discontinued so I'm not sure that ZT will do a blade exchange. I know I tried to get a new blade on an older Kershaw I owned, and they said that no parts are available for discontinued knives.

I've had good experiences with Elmax on my 0560, 0566, 0770, 0770CF, and Speedform 2. I have a couple others in Elmax that I haven't put to much use yet (0562 and 0620). I usually sharpen to to a little under 20 dps and then put a 20 degree microbevel on it. That's worked well for me so far.

The 560 was discontinued!!? Daaayyyuummn! Anyways I freaking LOVE Elmax! I like it more than S30V even more than S35VN! Even going back to the Elmax blade on my Speedform II Elmax has done nothing but be as tough as tool steel and even more stainless than S30 and S35. The S35VN on my 0550 sucks! It goes dull in an instant, chips and rolls with light use! Idk if I got a lemon or what! Sharpening it took for freaking ever! Its out at Razors Edge Knives for a pro Wicked Edge sharpen and mirror polish as is my 0801 so well see what happens when they come back. Hell I like Elmax so much I compare it more to S90V in its ability to take an insane edge and keep it even compare it to M390! Tool steel tough and high stainless to boot. Technically I believe it actually does have a leg up on S30V somehow. Elmax is a strange mix of features is how I understand it. I have many many Elmax knives and have had ZERO problems with them. Just got into M390 but have not had them long enough to make a call on it. I will say though M390 acts a lot like Elmax has for me as in it takes a hair splitting edge and just keeps it like its high end tool steel. Have never seen a speck of rust on Elmax...amazing stuff my Speedform II is the sharpest folder I have ever had and I have used it a lot and there is zero sign of wear

Some of this makes me more excited to try a ZT in Elmax, and some of it makes me wish they'd just use S35VN for knives like the 801

As someone that sharpens a lot of the steels commonly talked about I can tell you I would much rather sharpen Elmax than S35VN. Elmax will take a nice edge without much trouble, S35VN is much tougher to sharpen and never has an edge that feels as good as the one you will get with Elmax, IMO.

How well does Elmax take sharpening with waterstones?

It's my preferred method for sharpening Elmax. I usually use a Shapton 2k Pro/Glass to finish but must also mention the 800 Naniwa Professional (New Chosera). The 800 Naniwa stone really worked well with this steel.
