For me,it`s Kit Carson(big surprise to my friends

.In non-art-knife custom folders,I think there are two schools of thought. One is to build them blocky and strong as a tank. The other is to use thoughtful, attractive designs, and build more ergonomic but less tough knives.Kit`s work has the best of both worlds. My favorite is the model 18 w/titanium handles. The shape is perfect and the flipper action is a real speed opening advantage.Appearance wise, the lines, fit and function can be favorably compared to a lot of more "artsy" knives. It is nuclear explosion tough, too. The models 4 and 16 are also awesome.
Who is your favorite and why?

AAHHHHH!!!!
My pet peave!!!!

ELU--End line user. A term DESPISED by myself and many other blood-pumping human beings! I use the term customer in lieu of the dehumanizing "ELU". I wish the companies and makers would follow suit!!!

-Redleg out.

That's a toughie. I'd have to say Ed Fowler for Fixed blades and Kit Carcon for folders from the knives I have handled or owned.

Both makers are exceptional and their style is very reflective in the quality products they put out.

You beat me to it, then I remembered what ELU's where.Lots of people around here raise them and even have began to hunt them. Y'all probally have elu's running wild down there as well. Big rascals. And man, the size of them drum sticks!!

Allen Elishewitz, Rob Simonich and Ken Onion.

Besides making high quality knives, each with a distinctive style immediately recognizable as each makers, they are good friends and good people.

I love my Ares, Cetan & Boa.

Stay sharp!

Peter Del Raso. His grinds are perfect. He does not own a belt grinder and does not use a hard wheel grinder. He also has a fairly fast turnaround time. Which means it does not take him any longer to make knives than those that do use the grinders mentioned above. No CNC equipment either. That and the fact that several makers have studied a knife my father had him make under magnification without finding a single flaw is something that truly impresses me.

Regards,

Tom Carey

Tom,

Any contact info for Mr.Del Raso?

OKAY,OKAY!
I get the point.from now on I will only reference users as"most highly esteemed practitioners of the cutting arts"
Redleg,I AM a blood pumping human being and hope you keep that in mind in your future posts.Insults don`t count for much here.

Ken Onion-he`s got lines, grinds and designs. He`s by far my personal favorite.

(Dave-I don`t think redleg meant any offense at all. I didn`t see anything to get insulted about. Some people dislike the ELU tag. Hey, whatever! He`s new-ish here. Let`s welcome the newbies!)

My favorite maker of fixed blade martial arts knives are made by Phill Hartsfield.

My favorite maker of utility knives is Bob Dozier.

My favorite maker of folders is Pat Crawford.

My favorite art-knife/high-end maker is Warren Osbourne.

Dave,
No insult intended. "Newish" to the forum, but not to all things sharp.
BTW, I've heard that ELU skin works great for sheaths.

I prefer to think of myself as an "end line slicer" or perhaps end line chopper... end line cutter... well, whatever

Yep Fisk, I done seen a lot of ELUs running by your shop.

You should see Jerry chasing those ELU things thru the forest with one of his knives.

Those wild evil birds of prey!

We have the Southern strain here. Ours taste like possum.

I just can't bring myself to name just one maker and possibly insult others who are members here as well.

I can say this though, my favorite makers know who they are!
