I've been attempting to purchase my first Emerson (p-sark, or 7bw) but I cannot seem to find anyone who has them for sell.

So my question is this, aside from the emerson website where does bladeforumites get their emersons? From how durable they seem to be i'll only need one :)

And zero tolerances too. All of them seem to be sold out.

gpknives.com has a few Emersons that they show to be in stock; knifeworks has a few ZTs in stock.

You can often find some deals on that famous auction site too if you do any shopping there. Many knife nuts use that as a last resort to snag things they can't find elsewhere for a decent price or to get what they are wanting that is out of stock or no longer made.

I'd say 'Don't bother'. I've got a 7B mini and it's the worst knife for edge retention I've ever had. Save yourself the hassle and get something that will stay sharp

If he wants the CQC knife for a collection it really doesn't matter what the edge retention is like. Right?

The PSARK is elusive, I haven't seen one for sale in a while. The CQC-BW is available though. You have to search through multiple knife stores to find it though. A good starting point is Ebay and the Exchange forum here.
ZT knives will rotate back into production soon enough. Keep in mind, Kershaw and ZT knives are made in the same place. KAI makes so many different knives that they can't always keep every model in stock. Production time is scheduled for specific models based on various factors (demand, etc.).

Is it possible that you have a wire edge on your knife? Chisel edges need a different technique to sharpen.

Nope, sadly no wire edge. I've sharpened it according to the tutorial on the Emerson website, down to the stropping on a pad. Edge retention just seems poor compared to my UKPKs or Griptillians.

RevDevil, I'd agree with you if it was going to be a collectable but the comment 'From how durable they seem to be i'll only need one' seemed to indicate that it was going to be used.

Sent you a visitor message with a possibility for a Police SARK... good luck!

The overall hardness of the 154CM isn't very good for utility purposes, IMO it is run way too soft. I buy them as collectors. I doubt I'd use them if I had any sort of extended cutting to do, I have other knives with much better edge retention for that task.

I woulod disagree whole heartedly. I carried a CQC-7B for almost two years of sea service and it is one of my favorites. Tough as hell and will cut through anything. And I am able to keep it sharp. I just following the website, including the cardboard stropping, I get a satisfying, working edge. In fact, this is one of the knives on the short list of ones that I would totally depend my life on!

Maybe the full-size 7B and the Mini differ is some respect I'm unaware of but my experience has been very different from yours.

If it works for you, that's good to hear. For me, it's been a disappointment.

While I do plan on collecting it (the main reason for picking those models) but like my father always would say, "i dont own anything too good to use. If you dont use it some1 else will when your gone". so alot of my collectibles pull double duty albeit as light as it may be.

response for emersons seem to be 50-50, i wonder if this mixed reputation might have to do with knockoffs? tho i agree for the price a steel nicer than 154cm would be nice. but if it aint broken i guess...

You ought to give it another go, the full sized one. It's my favorite Emerson out of the 14 that I own.

The problem is that here in the UK, people tend to cr4p a pineapple at the sight of any knife. The Mini just about got by, the full size would have some of them reaching for the oxygen or calling 999 (our 911). I'll just have to get by with my UKPK - such a hardship :)
