How did you screw up a roux?

There are all kinds of sporks on the market. The most popular seem to be made of titanium.
 
LMAO dude you cant be serious... I hated those things.... but anyway im sure theres lots of heave duty sporks. look at the light my fire ones maybe??? get a titanium one maybe....

Im dead freakin' serious, only time I didn't like them was if I've been fighting and my mouth was split.. Freaking huge to fit in there.

And not completely, I carved it down into a spoon.
 
I don't know but I wasn't happy..

I've seen those, I dont want titanium, I want the heavy gauge nylon type stuff.

Did it taste burnt? Your butter may have gotten browned before you got your flour in. Or was it gritty? It may have been too much flour.
 
I was attempting a dry roux fir like the third time, been successful in the past. It got lumpy, I screwed up and tried to stir with plastic..

In louisiana we don't use cream, it can be added on top at the end for a cream based soup or like you said bechemel, but the roux is just flour and oil.

It's used in soups to thicken, a very dark roux is the base of a good gumbo and I use very dark for a French onion. Otherwise it's usually light with some cream on top at the end.
 
What I have done last few times, is use half rendered bacon fat, and half butter to make my roux.

I also heat up the cream(or milk) in a pan before adding it to the sauce.

This dagger aint perfect. You can see I gouged it a bit in the center of the grind (on both sides). But hey, I've come a long ways from my earlier blades, methinks. I like that lacewood too. Has nice figure.

Holy Crap!!! I just ruined my spork making a worthless Roux that I threw down the drain anyway as it was unacceptable O.o

One of those huge orand heavy duty plastic/nylon things.

I've saved that thing since I got outta jail and its been my primary eating utensil for some years now.. I'm not s man ghat likes change, I wanna replace it but don't quite feel like going back, haha!! :D

Anyone seen these things on the average American market??

Mao Mart has the Outdoor brand. We got one each for the kids and I've ruined each one making breakfast at various times.

nevermind my link then, i guess B Roc is making so much money nowadays off them CD sales that they cant play his vids on Youtube...
