EMC - Essential Must Carry

I call this the Essential Must Carry ie a knife that you carry regardless. Not EDC's you may rotate but a knife you carry every day whether at work or at home. Is there one knife you won't be without?

For me it use to be a Schrade Senior Stockman on the farm but now it is a Smith & Wesson Cuttin' Horse Modified Tanto Folder with a 2.5" blade. I know it's only a "cheapie" and I often carry far more expensive knives in addition. But this is the knife I carry everyday for all sorts of cutting, slicing and scraping jobs - it gets a lot of use and is often abused. Because it is cheap and replaceable it is often called upon to do things I wouldn't dream of doing with a more expensive blade.

My EMC clips on to my belt, pocket or is carried in the pocket. I keep it razor sharp and it works for me. Another advantage is that it makes a good "lender' to those who are not knife initiated. So my interpretation of an EMC is just that - it is essential, I must carry it and would not be without it - who else has an EMC?

Well, essential unless theres a metal detector at the door :D
A standard large Sebenza. A hideaway is enroute so that may be an additional option, after testing.

strider, either the SA or MFS. every time. right, 5oclock, belt. everywhere except for when knives aren't allowed, like the concert i went to today.

but all the time, excluding the illicit areas. next to my bed when i'm sleeping, even on the sink counter when i'm in the shower. paranoid?? ;)

For me, it's my Buck 301 stockman, Buck 110FG, and by Leatherman SuperTool. I carry all three everyday and I use all three everyday.

I don't go ANYWHERE without my Benchmade 805 and 705S, SOG Deluxe Pocket PowerPlier, and SOG CrossCut...At least as long as I have my pants on...:).

My small Sebenza never leave me. Even if I'm carrying an other knife for a particular purpose or situation, my right front pocket is reserved ! This knife constitutes my basic tool.

Do you remember the Spyderco advertisement : "all god creatures have knives" ? The Sebenza represents the claw I don't naturally have !!!
:D

SAK. Victorinox Swisschamp. How can anyone not be carrying an SAK?

Agreed, I take a SAK mountaineer everywhere I go...used ot me a SAK solder but I lost it and the moutaineer has the scissors which are very useful.

It's always a Victorinox, used to be a climber but recently, I've been trying out a scientist.

Small Sebenza -- either in a Mission wallet when I'm also carrying a larger blade, or in pocket when I'm not.

Vnox Recruit. All the way, every day. Everything else may rotate, but not that. Well, actually it does, too, but only because I've got a red one, and a black one.

edit: there's a Vnox Classic and Arc AAA on my keys. Those are always on me, too.

The one constant is a scissors-equipped tool. For a while it has been my Leatherman Squirt S4 on my keychain. I rotate my main blade among my SAKs.

My EMC is my Spyderco S30V Military PE, I NEVER leave home without it! Even if another Spydie is carried for smaller cutting chores, the Millie is always on my belt via my horizontal sheath(made by Vess).

My FRN Delica fills the bill. It slips into my back pocket and is so light that I barely notice it until a cutting chore pops up. It's one of the biggest bargains around. Hard to beat as a edc, it's light, sharp, and inexpensive and top notch blade steel to boot.
